Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD) has a huge impact on acute care services, yet fewer than 1% of people with AUD ever receive medications that have been shown to improve outcomes. When clients present with various other health concerns, we provide them with pharmacotherapies if appropriate… why are we not doing so with AUD? Current BC Guidelines recommend physicians/NPs initiate AUD pharmacotherapy whenever a patient presents with this disorder since doing so can dramatically improve their clinical course.
