Travelnurse Canada know’s how important the relationship between our Travel Nurses and their Recruiter is. The relationship you create together will be important for you both and help you feel confident and get the most of your travel nursing career. We have listed some key points to help you create the best Recruiter-Travel Nurse relationship possible.
Honesty – Open Communication
Being honest with each other on expectations and preferences will allow your Recruiter-Traveler relationship to grow quicker. Trust and confidence in each other will open the doors for communication. Your recruiter is there to try and make everything run as smoothly as possible on each travel contract you book. Not every travel contract that you book is going to be perfect, there may be hiccups along the way, whether it be unruly travel or clinical concerns, your recruiter can help you through any concerns you may have. They are your lifeline to reach out to. It is important to remember that with a strong relationship, they can be your person to vent and release frustrations to. They can help direct you in the right direction as needed and be a mediator if necessary. Our recruiters here at Travel Nurse Canada take their positions very seriously, they take pride in creating a strong, lasting relationship with their travel nurses. After time, many Recruiter-Traveler relationships can feel like long lost friendships.
How to ensure this happens?
A recruiter cannot know your preference until you tell them. Help them help you, to make everything the best experience possible. Let them know how you wish to communicate; regular phone calls, emails only, or possibly prefer text messages. Some travelers wish to have regular phone updates while others, only want to be contacted after they contact their recruiter. It is important to state your preference and timeline for communication from the start of your relationship, this will ensure your recruiter can meet your requests. Being clear and honest will help make certain your recruiter can meet your preferences.
Compatible
Compatibility is a great quality for the Recruiter-Traveler relationship. Being like-minded can help the process of finding the right travel contract easier. A strong Recruiter-Travel nurse relationship can feel like a friendship. You put a lot of trust into each other. Once your connection grows, your recruiter will start to see trends in the travel contracts you prefer and take and can help you through the process faster and notify you of exciting new opportunities.
Let your recruiter know what you want from travel nursing. Maybe it is to explore the country, to find the next place you wish to call home, or it is just experience new and different facilities to broaden your scope of practice. Letting us know what would make you happy will help us relate to you to for current and future assignments. We can spend more time sending you opportunities that would interest you, instead of the ones that don’t.
Keep in Touch with Availability
It is important to keep your recruiter in the loop on your plans and changes in your career. Your recruiter succeeds on finding you a contract if you keep them updated on your availability. When a recruiter is aware that you are available and looking for a contract, they can focus their energy on finding you an opportunity that fits your needs and open dates.
If you have accepted a new position and no longer available to travel, it is also important to notify your recruiter, so they can hold off sending you assignments that you are unable to take. And let’s be honest, we all know recruiters can be, “professional stalkers” at times, so notifying them if you are unavailable will prevent them from emailing, calling and texting to secure a contract. We do not take offence if you cannot travel, we just look forward to when you are available next.
We are thankful for all our Travel Nurses and the relationships they create with Travel Nurse Canada. If you have any tips or questions on how to build a stronger relationship with your recruiter, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We encourage your feedback as we want every contract you take to run as smoothly as possible.
Thanks so much,
The Recruitment Team
